Sponsoring a local event, enjoying a night out with customers and remembering Colin Haigh ..........
It started by sponsoring a cask of ale in memory of employee Colin Haigh who was a member of CAMRA and enjoyed a pint or two of Nettlethrasher and went on to sponsoring the whole event.
Held at the Square Chapel Centre for the Arts in Halifax the event offers over 70 beers and several ciders, much of which is from small independent brewers and can be difficult to find in local pubs and clubs. Reginald Maude team up with local brewer John Eastwood in the brewing of two ales for the festival 'Maudes Electric Ale' and 'Haigh's Humour' in memory of Colin. Two years running Haigh's Humour has been voted drinkers beer of the festival and it has given us great pleasure to present John Eastwood and fellow brewer Gary Mitchell with their awards at the presentation evenings.
Many of our customers and staff join us at the beer festival for a pleasant evening sampling some of the ales on offer and a bit of something to eat. Its a good night out and gives an opportunity to try a different tipple every time. If you've never been, pop along and try it, its held in May each year and is advertised in the local CAMRA magazines, websites and through posters and flyers at local pubs.
The evening also benefits Overgate Hospice at Elland who receive a cheque raised from public cash donations, unused beer tokens and the proceeds from sales of pumpclips at the festival.
